The master tub that was only deep enough to get your calves wet...

The master shower that was leaking for who knows how many years...

So...when we found out we were going to have a baby I was pretty persistent in requiring that our master bath get done within the next 9 months and the sooner the better. We decided to not only redo the bathroom, but we gutted the whole thing to the studs and started over. We decided to hire some help for the demolition, the plumbing, the tile work and some other things, because the job was so big that it would have taken Bryan and my dad months to finish the project if they did it all on their own. Bryan and my dad did some of the smaller jobs. After ripping down all the walls, taking out the shower, the tub, the vanities, well everything, we started rebuilding the bathroom to our specs. Here is the bathroom with no walls, or anything, just a blank canvas.

We wanted to keep two seperate vanities, across from each other, but we wanted to make one of them smaller so we could double the size of the closet space. We also wanted a deeper tub for soaking purposes and we doubled the size of the walk in shower, plus we added a bench in the shower. Below is a picture of the floor under the old shower...we had to rip it all out and replace the floorboards. The shower had been leaking and the floorboards were rotted with salamanders living in them and they all had to be replaced. Luckily we ripped down the walls already so those were already being replaced.

Here is a picture of our new soaking tub getting put in. We discussed putting in a whirlpool tub, but with the age of the house it was recommended to us to not do so. They are much heavier and we weren't sure if the house could support it.

We also doubled the size of the closet!Something I have always wanted. This picture is looking from the main area of the bathroom into the new closet. I love all the space we have now.

The toilet was left alone! One thing untouched. We also scraped the ceiling in the process and retextured it.
We have a few minor details to finish, but overall the bathroom is done and is beautiful. It is truly a spa now and we can enjoy using the bathroom without the phsychadelic experience from the retro 70's wallpaper and carpet.
Here are some of the finished pictures...

Bryan's vanity...

My Vanity...

Our new travertine tiled master shower, with a bench and measuring close to 3.5 by 6 feet. It is awesome. We still need to order a glass shower door for it, but otherwise it is perfect.

This picture is looking from the closet down to the other side of the bathroom with my vanity on the right and Bryans on the left. The shower on the left and our tub on the right just past the 1/2 wall. The toilet is hidden for privacy but opposite of the tub on the far left side.

This photo is of the bathroom from the opposite direction and looking towards the closet.

So now that we are back from vacation our first priority is to tackle the jungle of a backyard and frontyard we have. That began this morning! Wish us luck...who knows what could be living in the jungle waiting for us!
