Ok so do you remember we telling you about the free sink that we got from a few doors down? Well, this past weekend we worked on that sink and got rid of our yellow and green sink...transforming it to a beautiful ivory sink...sooooo much better.

This required a lot more work than just pulling a sink out and putting a new one in. The new sink was 6 inches longer than the old sink and therefore would not fit, so we had to cut it down to size. That is not an easy task. But, with some innovative ideas on how to move the sink through the saw, and with enough hands to stabilize it...we did it! Bryan and I measured, marked and got the new sink set up to cut. Then Bryan, Mom and I carefully moved it through the saw and cut both sides off to make it the right size. Then Bryan and Daddy installed it and it looks beautiful. This bathroom was mostly finished, but now with a new sink we are going to paint it and make some additional changes so when those projects are done I will post completed bathroom pics.

Next we got to work on the upstairs bathroom, which is mostly finished for now, but the ceiling was not done. We had scraped the popcorn, or so called popcorn and the ceiling needed to be touched up before we could finish painting and really finish that bathroom. This weekend the boy mudded the ceiling and then my dad sanded all the mud so it could be painted. Mom and dad taped off the bathroom to protect the house from the dust and he went to town. Man he is white!

Mom is in the process of painting the walls, ceiling and repainting the cabinets. A few touch ups to the floor, and the bathroom is done...until we rip apart the shower and retile it, which is a project for another day. It works...and is hidden by a shower curtain. Consider it done!
Now this project doesn't look or sound like it would go in order but it does. Trash day was here and we can only put so much grass clippings, tree limbs, etc out each trash day so Bryan went to town on another section of the yard so we could fill our trash allotment of trees! Our goal is to slowly work the jungle that our yard is now into a beautiful oasis, but it is a lot of work and the "jungle" is way overgrown. Lots to do. Some fun facts came with this project too...
Before...

After...

So as Bryan cleared all these overgrown bushes, trash, vines, etc. out of these flower beds that lined the decking down to the pool he found electricity and lights. To what you may ask...our pool area! We have complained and planned projects to add lighting to the walkway to the pool and around the pool because it is so dark and actually dangerous to walk down to the pool at night. So what a nice surprise to find there is already an electricity box and lights running down there. Now...do they work? No, but Bryan said that we can fix that. Yeah! So no lights as of yet, but we will have them and we won't have to run new wiring to do it...bigger yeah!
And finally...the closets! So older homes do not usually have enough closet space...at all. This house however has huge walk in closets, but they were built/designed very poorly and held very few clothes. That will not work in my house! So Bryan, Mom and Dad went to work on the closets while I was out of town for work. Pictures are on another camera so before and after to come soon! Oh, and the gameroom is set up, with pool table and ready to go as well.
We have a deadline for a majority of the work to be done and with the free labor we have contracted from Mom and Dad our goal is very attainable. October 16th! That is the day that UT will play Nebraska in one of the biggest football games of 2010. We have invited fellow Texas Exes and fans to join us, at our house, for a game watching party. You are all invited, as long as you root for UT! So...the countdown begins...53 days!
